The of opening Agriculture Faculty in FCUB, Chuadanga, is of paramount importance for following reasons:-

  1. Bangladesh is predominantly an agricultural country, when majority of the people are still depend on agriculture directly or indirectly.
  2. Our economy is largely based on agriculture; a significant percentage of export earnings come from this sector.
  3. Chuadanga is situated in such a region in which agriculture, floriculture, horticulture and pisciculture not only predominate our rural economy but also play vital role in the national economy.
  4. The faculty of agriculture may play primary role in the development of skilled manpower connected with agriculture in our country.
  5. FCUB is a Govt. as well as UGC approved private University which has no branch or campus else where in the country.
  6. B.Sc. honours degree in Agriculture is designed to fulfil the requirements of the country and to cope with the changing competitive demand of modern agricultural market.
  7. FCUB is aimed at producing high level graduates comparable with Public Universities of the country as well other developed countries of the world including USA, Canada and Australia.
  8. Graduates of this faculty are equally eligible to sit for any competitive examination including as BCS and other Agro-economic examinations.
  9. Agricultural graduates of the university is expected to acceptable in the job markets at home and abroad and will help to develop agro-economy in the whole world.
  10. Graduates take active part in NGO activities and other formal and non-formal sectors especially in the field of agriculture in the country as well as in the trade and commerce of the whole world.
  11. Graduates will be trained in such a way that they may develop there own ideal farming and the techniques associated there off.
  12. This will help to remove poverty and unemployment from the total economy.

Scope and facilities:

  1. Well equiped Bio-technology Laboratory; Genetic Engineering Laboratory, Tissue Culture Laboratory and Agro-genetic Laboratory;
  2. Fully equiped with modern agricultural machineries and farm accessories.;
  3. Also have Pathology Laboratory, Insect Laboratory and a well equiped Soil testing Laboratory,
  4. Good facilities are available in cloning of horticulture crops.
  5. Job oriented courses are the special feature of the training.

Example :

  1. Development of disease free potato seed production through tissue culture.
  2. Floriculture method and clone production through tissue culture.
  3. Seed testing and hybrid seed production method.
  4. Seed preservation process and techniques along with the preservation of fruits, vegetables and other agro products in different environments and natural atmosphere.
  5. Agronomic practice for intensive cultivation.
  6. Mush-room cultivation with its utilization and preservation.
